Tiene menos de 30 años y cinco de carrera profesional y ha tomado su primera portada en la revista estadounidense Time. Su nombre es Kayla Reefer, fotógrafa nacida en California, Estados Unidos, de padres panameños.
Kayla ha trabajado para medios como The New York Times, Vice y The Hollywood Reporter y ha hecho campañas para Spotify que se han reflejado en las pantallas de Times Square, pero esta es la primera portada que hace para una publicación y la primera para Time. Además, la portada tiene un significado muy especial: tiene como título Las 100 personas más influyentes y aparecen las fundadoras de Black Lives Matter, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, y Opal Tometi.
A través de sus redes sociales Kayla expresó el “honor absoluto” que fue fotografiarlas y cómo en la sesión de fotos ellas tres, que eran las verdaderas protagonistas, la animaban en su trabajo.

“Los que me conocen personalmente saben que soy muy apasionada en lo que hago. Cualquier cosa que decido seguir o hacer, doy el todo. Así que odo el trabajo, las lágrimas, las dudas, los miedos y triunfos finalmente culminen en este momento es más que especial. Es realmente mágico y no puedo creerlo”, es parte del mensaje que compartió Kayla con la portada en su cuenta de Instagram.
My first cover, ever, and it’s for TIME. I had the absolute honor of photographing Black Lives Matter founders, Patrisse Cullors (@osopepatrisse), Alicia Garza (@chasinggarza), and Opal Tometi (@opalayo) for @TIME 100 – Most Influential People. I feel like any praise I give to these three incredible Black womxn will fall short. For everything that they do everyday, for all the risks that they take. All the flowers I could gift them would never be enough. I hope this resounding thank you will suffice for now, until I can give my proper appreciation. I’m so very grateful for y’alls time and patience throughout our shoot. Y’all were hyping me up and being supportive of me when really the spotlight was on you. I’ve been stuck on trying to figure out what else to say since the cover debuted last night. Those who know me personally, know that I’m very passionate about what I do. Whatever I decide to pursue or make, I give it my all. So to have all the work, tears, doubts, fears and triumphs finally culminate into this moment is beyond special.
